The Journey to Pavilion: And the Three Disappointments

Were still celebrating Chinese New Year this week or should I say until Chap Goh Mei. There’s nothing happening really at my house apart from CNY sales at the supermarket… no lion dance, no fire crackers, there’s nobody to visit but luckily I got to taste some mandarin oranges J

Speaking of CNY, there’s some Chinese cuisines that I want to eat but never got a chance to eat it. They are moon cakes and yee sang… (drool, drool) I wonder how it tastes like. Yesterday, in NST there’s an article about a restaurant (Shanghai Delight) that sell halal Chinese foods… something like I always saw in Hollywood movies, the one that comes in white tall square boxes.

Coincidentally I’m going to Pavilion at Bukit Bintang for sightseeing and to enquire about a job at a shop. So, off I go to Bukit Bintang. Arrived there around 8 PM and my first impression is that Pavilion is huge (really huge!)

Inside there’s a lot of can-see-but-can’t-buy-because-its-so-expansive kind of shops. The food centre was okay, you can get a decent meal with RM10 plus there are a lot of choices from Malay to Taiwanese food. There’s a bookstore there luckily, called Times (I think there’s MPH but it’s nowhere to be found) I noticed that Times is smaller than Borders and Kinokuniya. I like how they arrange the books, the books are a bit cheaper I think, the stationary section sells a lot of art stuffs (mostly Pelikan products) I finally found a Pilot Rexgrip Mech pencil and Artline 0.1 pen but I did not bought any of it. Next time I know where to get those stuffs.

In the end I couldn’t find the shop that I wanted to go. A disappointment , really. Next stop would be Shanghai Delight, but after walking around aimlessly at Bukit Bintang, I still could not find it. Another disappointment I’m so hungry, it’s almost 10 PM so I just get a Prosperity Fold-Over set at McD (another never tasted ‘Chinese’ food although not really related to Chinese food but It have something to do with CNY)

Back at home (11:10 PM), I gobble up that already cold Prosperity Fold-Over… well, its taste kind of awful. I’ll never buy any Prosperity product from McD again! Oh, another disappointment

I’ve started drawing suddenly around two weeks ago; why? Actually it’s because of my mouse. There’s something wrong with the button, a click becomes a double click and if you click + drag it will just click or sometimes double click on its own. It’s a small problem but it’s very annoying! So to cure my boredom, I started drawing.

The last time I’ve drawn was around 3 years ago when I first entered college (Its boring plus there’s only a few assignments to do) but to draw seriously it’s longer than that, I quit since standard 5… that’s soo long ago ahaha

If last year resolution is to learn more about Illustrator and enhance my pen tool skills, than this year would be to learn Photoshop and to draw. Currently I’m trying out colouring in Photoshop and learning how to draw a human figure + human anatomy.

Drawing a human body was a pain! If you draw one of the body parts wrongly (hand too long, shoulders to broad, crocked legs…etc) it will ruin the whole look of the body! That’s how hard it is, but with practice, a lot of analyzing and studying of the body (my own body and other people’s body too) I managed to draw it better and faster, from 4 hours down to 15-20 minutes per sketch. I think I need to be quicker since what I’m drawing is just a body and a head. Not less and obviously not more. Oh, and I’ll be using a lot of paper. Don’t worry; I’m using recycled/old/draft paper (please save our earth!)

Should I post those drawings? Maybe not, its nothing actually, I won’t be submitting anything for the time being then… Gong Xi Fatt Choy! (a bit late, maybe)
